It is a beautiful whitewater cascade popular with kayakers. Bull Sluice is part of the Rabun County waterfalls system.
From Clayton, take Hwy 76 East to the SC line. Park on the SC side of the bridge and follow a paved path from the parking area. At a sharp left turn in the path, continue straight on the gravel path. The sluice is less than a quarter of a mile ahead.
Bull Sluice is a Class Five rapid on the Chattooga River separating South Carolina and Georgia. It can be approached from either side, but the South Carolina side has a convenience center and a paved trail half of the way. From the center’s parking lot, follow the trail down the hill to where it forks (remember you got to walk that hill coming back). Take the right fork through the woods to the river below (the left fork take you to a beach area downstream of the rapids). From the Georgia side, follow the Chattooga River Trail upriver several hundred yards to where it forks. Take the right fork down to the river and scramble over beached debris to the river.
