Holcomb Creek Cascade

Holcomb Creek Falls  has a dramatic 120’ drop featuring a free-falling upper cascade and a steep, sliding lower drop.  The moderately strenuous 0.3-mile trail to Holcomb Falls begins at the junction of FS-7 and FS-86, 6.5 miles off Warwoman Road. The trail descends steadily until it reaches the observation bridge at the falls. Continuing on the trail of one quarter of a mile leads to the viewing deck at Ammons Falls, a 40-foot waterslide.

Directions: From Clayton, Georgia take Warwoman Road east for 10 miles. Turn left onto Hale Ridge Road (Forest Service Road 7) for approximately 7-9 miles until it intersects Overflow Road (Forest Service Road 86).

Three Falls, Holcomb Creek Falls, Ammons Falls and a second falls on Holcomb Creek can be seen on a 2 mile loop hike beginning at the Holcomb Creek trailhead. To reach thes falls from Clayton, Georgia go east on Warwoman Rd. 10 miles and turn left onto unpaved FS-7 (At the sign to Hale Ridge Cemetary). Follow FS-7 6.5 miles to the junction with FS-86. The trail to Holcomb Falls begins here. The 0.3 mile trail which will be moderately strenuous on the return descends steadily until it reaches the observation bridge at the falls. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for the part of the hike. The part of the falls shown above is a fall of about 75 feet but continues on up the mountain in cascades for several hundred feet. Continuing on the trail for one quarter of a mile leads you to Ammon Falls. Allow 10-15 minutes to reach the viewing deck at Ammons Falls. Just before reaching Ammons Falls a one mile spur trail leads back along Holcomb Creek to FS-7 six tenths of a mile above the Holcomb Creek trailhead. This moderately strenuous trail passes the 15 foot cascade on shown above just as the trail levels out.
