Georgia State House Resolution 58 – Rabun County Farm to Table Capital of Georgia

Georgia State House Resolution 58 – Rabun County Farm to Table Capital of Georgia
Monday, January 26th Representative Stephen Allison presented to the Georgia State House Resolution 58 designating Rabun County, Georgia the Farm to Table Capital of Georgia.  The House passed the resolution on that day.  Tuesday, January 27th Representative Allison presented the newly passed resolution on the House floor where many of the representatives of the Rabun County Tourism Development Authority (TDA), Chefs, and farmers were present.
The 27th was also Tourism and Hospitality Day at the Capitol which made this announcement even more fitting. Gayle Darugh, Board Chair of the Rabun County TDA, co-owner of the Beechwood Inn Bed & Breakfast and voted Best Chefs America 3 years running, and Teka Earnhardt, Executive Director of the Rabun County TDA went to Representative Allison several months ago and asked if he would support this movement.  The two described the farming culture in Rabun County and the chefs that focus their attention and talents on using locally grown products for the large majority of their dishes in their restaurants.  They also discussed how Rabun County has 6 Voted Best Chefs America, which per capita is more than any other area in the state of Georgia all use the Farm to Table mantra as their specialty. Representative Allison was thrilled to be asked to champion this resolution and after much work on his, his staff, and the Rabun County TDA’s part the resolution was passed and announced on the 26th & 27th respectively.
Several of the Rabun County TDA board members, chefs, and farmers attended the Tourism & Hospitality Day at the Capitol and was present during the reading of Resolution 58 on the House Floor.  People present were Gayle Darugh, Teka Earnhardt, Dave Darugh, Gwen Fink, Carl Fackler, Carla Fackler, Ryan Spruhan, Vince Scafitti, and Terry Jaegers-Blincoe.
