The Smokey Mountain Stables on 441 in south Rabun County is a rescue & rehabilitation barn for farm animals & horses & ponies. Pam Thompson, owner-operator of Dillard House Stables since 1989, along with her crew of experienced trail guides strive to keep the tradition alive. Pam’s lifetime of experience with horses and 25 years in the “Trail Riding” business allows her the opportunity to offer a safe and enjoyable horseback ride for every level rider.
This is a reservation only campground. The campground has two access trails that connect it to the 15 mile Willis Knob Horse Trail, which in turn is connected to the12.5 mile Rocky Gap Horse Trail in South Carolina by three official fords crossing the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River.
