Black Rock Camping Trip
March 31 - April 2
Black Rock Camping Trip
We are going camping at Black Rock Mountain State Park on Friday, March 31st and Saturday, April 2nd. We will camp on both Friday and Saturday nights and will have multiple “choose your own adventure” group hikes in the area during the day on Saturday. There are picnic tables and grills throughout our campsite for cooking all meals, although you are welcome to drive back into Clayton (10 minutes) for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner.
On Saturday morning there will be an optional sunrise yoga session led by local instructor Lacy Carter. Our campsite is a private campsite in the back of the State Park that will sleep up to 50 people. The campsite has an old log cabin on it with electricity, a woodburning stove, a refrigerator and microwave and is where we will have dinner. There is a pit latrine and running water but there are no hot showers or flush toilets at the campsite. However, both are available back at the main campground and visitor’s center that you can drive to.
Please pay careful attention to the details below. There are four primitive shelters, each with eight bunks in them available to sleep on. These have a roof, platforms for eight individual bunks, and an exposed entryway. The shelters are perfect places to sleep and protect you from the elements and the cold and are a great option if you do not have a tent. The shelters are booked on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS when purchasing your tickets. Each shelter (1-4) is listed below along with the option for tent camping. Please select the appropriate one you wish to utilize, shelter or tent, as there are limited quantities and space for both options. If you would like to stay in the same shelter with your friend, please make sure you select the same shelter when checking out. Once either option, shelter or tent, are “sold out”, you must select the remaining available option.
The cost is $25 per person for the weekend.
There is an additional $5 a day parking pass per car required by the Georgia State Parks.
We will send out an email the week of with full details on times, specific directions to the site, schedule and more. Unfortunately, no pets are allowed on this trip.
